Collection: Paisley

An artistic impression of the lopped heart of a baby mango, the paisley pattern was popularised in early Jacobean times. Believed to have been brought back from Kashmir (India) by William of Paisley (Scotland) by way of the paisley patterned shawls, this motif represents prosperity and abundance in springtime, when the mangoes sprout young fruit. The shawls (which we also showcase) invariably have the pattern woven into the borders.
